Washington’s farewell address remains timely in today’s political climate

If we care about the direction our country must choose in the days ahead, we might want to re-read (Google) President Washington’s Farewell Address.

Our first president’s thoughtful discussion of national priorities applies in today’s confusing political climate: relations with foreign powers, the dangers of factions, the importance of checks and balances in government, the indispensable supports of religion and morality on political prosperity, to name a few.

I am impressed with the currency of his good advice.

Have a good ten-minute read!

EDITOR’S NOTE: In his farewell Presidential address, George Washington advised American citizens to view themselves as a cohesive unit, among other advice. Here is a link to a transcript of the address: https://tinyurl.com/yd9gld6y
