The Livingston County Area Chamber of Commerce and the Livingston County Education Alliance will award up to four $1,000.00 scholarships to graduating seniors who reside in Livingston County.

The deadline for submitting an application is July 27.

Two of the scholarships are typically offered by the Livingston County Area Chamber Agricultural Workgroup and LCEA to vocational students and two additional scholarships are typically offered to area high school students.

Selection will be made based upon the application, a letter of recommendation that is preferred, but not required; and an essay or 2- to 4-minute YouTube video that responds to one of several prompts. The prompts include overcoming an obstacle, how the applicant’s personal skills or talents will support them in their post-secondary path, a moment that changed how they saw the world and their role in it; their passion for their field of study or career choice; the importance of service to others; how the applicant is a leader; or an alternative topic of the applicants choice, with an explanation for their reason for that choice.

The letter of recommendation may come from a teacher, counselor or school administrator.

Scholarships are offered to graduating high school seniors who have been accepted at and committed to attending an institution of technical training or higher education in the fall of 2020. An acceptance letter from the applicant’s school or program of choice, financial aid package (complete with estimated cost of attendance and financial aid award, if any) and commitment letter/form/email to attend the school with student’s name on it must be submitted with the application.

YouTube videos will be evaluated based on presentation and content. A link to the video should be included with the scholarship application submission.

The essay should be at least three pages, but not more than six pages double-spaced using times New Roman font, size 12. The essay will be evaluated based on articulation of topic, grammar, spelling and sentence structure.
