While no Genesee Region programs captured Section V Competitive Cheerleading titles this winter, several enjoyed success as both Alexander and Oakfield-Alabama each placed runner-up.

Alexander finished second in their Division 2 Large class while Holley was fourth while Oakfield-Alabama placed second in the Division 2 Small C classification.

Attica would earn a top-five finish in the highly competitive Division 2 Small A division while Pembroke was seventh in the Division 2 Small B category.

Here are this season’s Genesee Region League All-Stars:

Autumn Wildey, Senior, Attica

Wildey is a first-time all-star after being selected for the Ronald McDonald All-Star Game this winter. She helped lead the Devils to three-straight GR League Titles, while also propelling them to a state appearance. She was awarded Most Outstanding Player honors this season. Wildey plans to study nursing this fall.

Raranna Anowski, Senior, Attica

A first-time all-star, Anowski was moved from backspot to base this season and helped lead Attica to a third-consecutive GR League Title. This season, a second place finish at sectionals allowed the Devils to move on to the state championships. Anowski plans to study health and wellness at Buffalo State College this fall.

Jaiden Lefort, Senior, Attica

Lefort was honored as an all-star for the first time after earning her spot as co-captain for the Blue Devils. She was awarded as her team’s Most Valuable Player and fell just short of being selected for the Ronald McDonald All-Star Game following a fine performance at the GR League Championships. She will attend GCC in the fall for general studies.

Jade Stone, Senior, Attica

Being selected as an all-star for the first time, Stone served as a backspot for the Blue Devils and helped them earn a runner-up finish at sectionals. She plans to attain a cosmetology license with which she plans to assist her mother with her salon in the future. Stone plans to attend Continental School of Beauty beginning this fall.

Emily Fearby, Senior, Oakfield-Alabama

Fearby is a two-time all-star and served as team captain the past two seasons. She has been on varsity since seventh grade and was a member of the program’s 2015 GR Championship squad. Fearby plans to attend GCC for general studies with the hopes of transferring to Brockport where she will study social work.

Rylei Odessa, Senior, Oakfield-Alabama

Odessa has been a varsity cheerleader for four seasons and helped her team achieve a first place finish at the GR Championships (Div. II). She is a first-time all-star and has served as co-captain for the past two seasons. Odessa plans to attend Ithaca College where she will major in business administration, finance and will continue studying Spanish.

Jenna Jaszko, Freshman, Oakfield-Alabama

The Hornets placed second at the sectional championships, in part due to the efforts of Jaszko, a first-time all-star. She served as the team’s main flyer this season.

Frida Peralta, Senior, Oakfield-Alabama

A two-time all-star, Peralta has been on varsity for three-seasons and served as a side flyer this year. She plans to attend GCC where she will study to become a social worker.

Halle Shepherd, Senior, Holley

Shepherd is a first-time all-star and helped the Hawks place second at the GR Championships this season. She plans to move south and attend college.

Allyson Skehan, Junior, Holley

Skehan helped Holley to a fourth place finish at sectionals.

Tyra Shepherd, Senior, Holley

Shepherd is a two-time all-star and hopes to pursue a degree in cognitive science before attending medical school where she will study psychiatry.

Jaream Boswell, Senior, Wheatland-Chili

Boswell is a first-time all-star and was awarded her team’s Most Valuable Player honors, along with Most Improved Player. She plans to attend Buffalo State College in the fall.

Allison Athen, Senior, Wheatland-Chili

Athen is a first-time all-star and has been on varsity for six years. She was a team captain this season and plans on attending college to study human services and criminal psychology in the fall.

Zoe Schmieder, Senior, Wheatland-Chili

Schmieder is a two-time all-star and helped the Wildcats win the GR League Title in ‘18 and ‘19. She plans to attend college where she will study nursing or speech pathology.

Courtney Seymour, Sophomore, Alexander

A first-time all-star, Seymour has been on varsity for three seasons as a side base.

Maleina Pellegrino, Junior, Alexander

Pellegrino has been the team’s main base for four seasons and is a first-time all-star. She helped lead the Trojans to their first state championship appearance in the program’s history.

Gina Giuliani, Senior, Elba

Giuliani is a first-time all-star and plans to attend a four-year college where she will study human services.

Olga Zuniga Reza, Senior, Elba

Reza is a first-time all-star and helped the Lancers achieve a third place finish at the GR League Championships. She plans to study to become an ENL teacher.

Hope Hersom, Junior, Byron-Bergen

A first-time all-star, Hersom achieved that honor in her first season of competitive cheer.

Carli Kirkwood, Junior, Byron-Bergen

Kirkwood is a first-time all-star.

Lexie Zanghi, Senior, Pembroke

Zanghi, a first-year al-star helped the Dragons place seventh out of 16 teams at sectionals. She plans to attend either the University of Albany, Niagara, or Oswego where she will study communications.

Faith DesRoches, Senior, Pembroke

A first-time all-star, DesRoches helped the Dragons earn a third place finish at the GR Championships. She plans to continuing developing her photography career and eventually open her own business.

Megan Elliott, Junior, Kendall

Elliott was a team captain this season an a first-time all-star.
