Barbara B. Mahoney, 87, died on April 26, 2021. She was predeceased by her parents, Father Louis G. Bernard Sr. and mother Viola M. (Sweeney) Bernard; two brothers, Louis Bernard Jr. and William F. Bernard.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert “Bob” Mahoney; and daughter, Denise R. Gambino; and son, Michael P. Mahoney; four grandchildren, Eric, Amy, Rachel and Erin; two great-grandchildren, Lawson and Aubriella Miller; and sister-in-law, Eveline Bernard.
Barbara was born in the cottage/home at Silver Lake in Perry, N.Y. She attended the Silver Lake one-room school house on Route 39 in Castile. The school merged into Perry Central School District in 1940 and she graduated in 1950. After graduation she worked at three manufacturing facilities in Perry, the last as secretary of Robeson Cutlery.
After her marriage she became a full-time mother of two children, educating them with the “3 R’s” to be ready for kindergarten and their formal education.
She went back to work for CPAC, a silver recovery company, as administrative assistant to the owner president from which she retired after 25 years. She enjoyed traveling to see friends and relatives – trips with the children, her family and visits to Canada; trips to Texas to see her brother Louie, and her 10 years in Florida during January and February. She was an avid card player with euchre her specialty.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the John W. Martin Funeral Home, 37 Chapel St. (Route 408), Mount Morris, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Leicester Cemetery.
