UPDATE: The tornado warning that included Livingston County was canceled shortly before it was scheduled to expire.

UPDATE, 7:08 p.m.:  The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for northeastern Livingston, southeastern Monroe and northwestern Ontario counties until 7:30 p.m.

At 6:50 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Scottsville, or 7 miles south of Chili, moving east at 30 mph.

Weather Service radar indicated rotation. The Weather Service warned of a possible tornado and quarter-size hail.

The Weather Service said the dangerous storm will be near Lima around 7:05 p.m., Honeoye Falls around 7:10 p.m., Victor and Bloomfield around 7:25 p.m. Other locations that may be affected include Industry, Fishers, Martin, Mendon, East Bloomfield, Farmington, West Bloomfield, Holcomb, Garbutt and Rush. Also affected may be Interstate 390 near Exit 11 and Interstate 90 between exits 45 and 44.

Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely, the Weather Service said.

A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 7:45 p.m. for northeastern Livingston, southern Monroe, northeastern Genesee and northwestern Ontario counties.

At 7:08 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Byron, or 10 miles south of Brockport, moving east at 30 mph. Radar indicated 60 mph wind guests and quarter-size hail.

Locations to be affected include Caledonia, Lima, Scottsville, Churchville, Honeoye Falls, Henrietta, Victor, Bristol, Bloomfield and Farmington. Also include are Interstate 390 between exits 11 and 12, and Interstate 90 between exits 47 and 44.

The Weather Service advises that a tornado and hail are possible with this storm.

UPDATE, 6:45 p.m.: The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 7:45 p.m. that includes northeastern Livingston and northeastern Genesee counties.

The warning also includes southern Monroe and northwestern Ontario counties.

At 6:37 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Le Roy, or 11 miles east of Batavia, moving east at 25 mph.

Weather Service radar indicated 60 mph wind gusts and penny-size hail. Damage to roofs, siding and trees is possible.

Locations to be affected include Le Roy, Caledonia, Avon, Lima, Scottsville, Churchville,  Henrietta, Honeoye Falls, Victor, and Bristol. This includes Interstate 390 between exits 10 and 12, and Interstate 90 between exits 47 and 44.

The Weather Service is advising of the possibility of a tornado and three-quarter inch hail.

UPDATE, 5:30 p.m.: Scattered strong storms are possible across the region into early this evening, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight, than a chance of showers. The chance of precipitation is 30 percent with new precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

The overnight low is forecast around 64 degrees.

 

UPDATE, 4:15 p.m.: A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 4:30 p.m. for southeastern Livingston and southwestern Ontario counties.

At 4:05 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending 7 miles east of Conesus to near Wayland, moving east at 35 mph.

Weather Service radar indicated 60 mph wind gusts.

Locations to be affected include Springwater, Hunt Hollow and Naples.

Expect damage to roofs, siding and trees.

UPDATE, 4 p.m.: A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 4:15 p.m. for east central Wyoming and central Livingston counties.

At 3:46 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Mount Morris and Geneseo, moving east at 40 mph.

Weather Service radar indicated 60 mph wind gusts.

Locations to be affected include Geneseo, Letchworth State park, Perry, Avon, Mount Morris, Conesus, Lima, Hemlock, York and Groveland. Also included is Interstate 390 between exits 6 and 10.

Damage to roofs, siding and trees is possible.

UPDATE, 3 p.m.:

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning that includes southwestern Livingston and southern Wyoming counties.

The warning is in effect until 3:45 p.m. and also includes northeastern Cattaraugus, southeastern Erie and northern Allegany counties.

At 2:48 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Ashford Hollow, or 18 miles north of Salamanca, moving east at 30 mph. Weather Service radar indicated 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.

Minor damage to vehicles is possible. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding and trees, the Weather Service said.

Locations to be affected include Dansville, Letchworth State Park, Springville, Arcade, Franklinville, Belfast, Rushford, Houghton, Portageville and Yorkshire. Also, Interstate 390 between exits 4 and 5.

Scattered strong storms are expected across Western New York, the Genesee Valley and Finger Lakes regions this afternoon into early this evening. An isolated severe thunderstorm with damaging winds cannot be ruled out, the Weather Service said.

ORIGINAL STORY, 1:45 p.m.:

The National Weather Service has issued severe thunderstorm warnings that include Livingston and Steuben counties.

A warning is in effect until 2 p.m. that includes southern Livingston, northeastern Allegany and southwestern Ontario counties.

At 1:19 p.m., the Weather Service reported a severe thunderstorm was located over Dansville, moving east at 35 mph. Radar indicated 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.

Minor damage to vehicles is possible. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations to be affected include Dansville, Naples, Groveland, Springwater, Nunda, Ossian,

Canaseraga, Hunt, Dalton and Ossian Center. Also, Interstate 390 between exits 4 and 5.

A separate warning is also in effect until 2:30 p.m. for northwestern Steuben County.

At 1:25 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Dansville, moving east at 25 mph. Radar indicated the storm was accompanied by 60 mph wind gusts, the Weather Service said.

Expect damage to trees, power lines and possibly homes.

Locations to be affected include Wayland, Cohocton, Prattsburg, Perkinsville, Stony Brook State Park and Atlanta.

Scattered strong storms are expected across Western New York, the Genesee Valley and Finger Lakes regions this afternoon into early this evening. An isolated severe thunderstorm with damaging winds cannot be ruled out, the Weather Service said.
