The VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System has scheduled a COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Mount Morris on April 17.

The clinic, which will use the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Livingston County Conference Center,1 Murray Hill Drive, Mount Morris.

To schedule a vaccine shot, call (607) 664-4626 or (585) 393-7401 and choose “option -3.” Calls should be made between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

"We would like to thank the VA for expanding their efforts to reach our rural communities," Jason Skinner, Livingston County director of veteran services, said in a statement. "The vaccination clinic at our county campus will allow for increased accessibility to the vaccine among local veterans, their spouses and caregivers."

The clinic is open to anyone who served in the military, their caregivers and spouses, and some other beneficiaries under the authority granted by the SAVE LIVES Act, signed by President Joe Biden on March 24.

The expanded authority depends on readily available COVID-19 vaccine supply and requires the Department of Veterans Affairs to continue to prioritize Veterans enrolled in VA care, VA officials said in a news release.

“Since the start of the pandemic, VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System has been focused on vaccinating as many Veterans as possible, and we are excited to multiply our efforts thanks to the SAVE LIVES Act,” Bruce Tucker, director of the VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System, said in a news release.

The VA Finger Lakes system has distributed more than 21,000 vaccines in the Finger Lakes and Greater Rochester area.

Those eligible under the SAVES LIVES Act to receive a vaccine can also go to www.va.gov/covid-19-vaccine to register and stay informed on VA’s vaccine rollout process. VA staff will contact veterans to schedule a vaccine appointment for them.
