Winter weather delays vaccine deliveries

VARYSBURG – More than 100 appointment slots are available for the Wyoming County COVID-19 vaccination clinic scheduled for Thursday.

The clinic, scheduled from 7 to 11 a.m. at the Lodge at Hidden Valley Animal Adventure, 2887 Royce Rd., has been opened to anyone age 18 and older.

While the focus of the clinic is Wyoming County farm workers, agricultural support businesses and families, others may also register for a vaccination.

The two-shot Moderna vaccine will be used.

Those attending should bring identification and health insurance card. Those without insurance will not be charged a fee. Those who register should be available on May 27 for the second dose.

The Health Department is reporting an increase in community cases throughout Wyoming County. There were 55 active cases as of Friday, with 73 new confirmed cases reported last week opposite 53 recoveries.

The health department is asking residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect themselves, their family and vulnerable community members.

Free COVID-19 rapid testing is available by appointment at the Health Department. Appointments are typically available on Tuesday and Thursday between 10 a.m. and noon.
