Two COVID-19 deaths as active cases drop

BATAVIA — The seven-day rolling average of positive COVID-19 cases in the Finger Lakes Region continued to decrease over the weekend.

The average was 2.3 percent as of Monday evening, compared to 2.5 percent on Friday.

Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming counties have stopped giving daily press updates involving COVID-19 numbers, citing the lower numbers of new and active cases.

Here’s a county-by-county look at the available data:

n Genesee County — New York State data indicated Monday that 26,040 or 45.3 percent of Genesee County residents have received at least one vaccine dose. A total of 22,659 residents have completed the vaccine series, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine tracker

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positive cases was 1.3 percent, according to the state department of health.

A total of 227 people were tested Sunday, according to the state data tracker. None tested positive.

n Orleans County — In Orleans County on Monday, 16,357 residents, or 40.3 percent of county residents, have received at least one vaccine dose; 13,849 residents have completed the vaccine series, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine tracker.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positive cases was 2.0 percent, according to state data.

A total of 99 people were tested Sunday, according to the state data tracker. Three tested positive.

n Wyoming County — In Wyoming County on Monday, 16,586 residents, or 41.4 percent of county residents, have received at least one vaccine dose; 14,372 residents have completed the vaccine series, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine tracker.

A total of 124 people were tested Sunday, according to the state data tracker. Four tested positive.

n Livingston County — The Livingston County Department of Health reported 29 new, confirmed COVID-19 cases over the weekend, increasing its overall total to 4,657 as of Monday.

Livingston County also recorded 25 new recoveries, bringing its total to 4,538.

In Livingston County, 29,050 residents, or 45.9% of county residents, have received at least one vaccine dose; 25,320 residents have completed the vaccine series, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine tracker.

There are 73 active cases among Livingston County residents, according to the county’s COVID-19 tracking map, a increase of four from Friday.

Of the current active cases, one is hospitalized, a decrease of one from Friday, according to county health data. One person is listed in intensive care.

Active cases include 24 in Dansville (up seven); eight in Nunda (up four); seven in Geneseo (down two) and Mount Morris; five in Lima (down two); four in Avon (up one); three each in Caledonia (up one), Conesus (up two), and Lakeville (up one); two each in Livonia (down two), Piffard and a Wayland zip code in Livingston County (down one); and single cases in Dalton, Hemlock and Leicester,

The county is reporting 45 COVID-19-related deaths. New York State reports 59 such deaths in Livingston County.

Livingston County has administered 137,384 tests for COVID-19 among county residents. The results include 132,727 negative results, according to the county’s COVID-19 tracking map. The infection rate among those tested is 3.39 percent.

The seven-day rolling average of positives is 3.0 percent.

SUNY Geneseo reported no active cases among its college community on Monday, resenting no change from Friday. There were no people in mandatory quarantine or isolating off campus, according to the SUNY COVID-19 tracker.
