COVID numbers remain low across region

BATAVIA — The number of active COVID-19 cases in the GLOW region decreased to 33 as of Tuesday.

The number reflects the dwindling trend of the virus as vaccinations and recoveries increase.

A total of 10 new cases and 23 recoveries were reported.

Here’s a county-by-county look at the data:

n Genesee and Orleans — Genesee County reported three new cases of COVID-19 since Friday, for a total of 5,326 cases. The new positives were 19 or younger, and in their 20s.

Among the 11 active cases, three people were hospitalized.

There were also three new recoveries reported, for a total of 4,769 recoveries, according to health department data.

New York state data indicated Tuesday that 27,443 or 47.7 percent of Genesee County residents have received at least one vaccine dose; 24,348 residents have completed the vaccine series, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine tracker

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positive cases was 0.3 percent, according to the state Department of Health.

Orleans County reported one new case for a total of 3,092 cases as of Tuesday. The new positive was 19 or younger.

Of the county’s three active cases, none are hospitalized.

Orleans County also reported nine new recoveries for a total of 2,696 recoveries.

In Orleans County on Tuesday, 17,307 residents, or 42.6 percent of county residents, have received at least one vaccine dose; 14,975 residents have completed the vaccine series, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine tracker.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positive cases was 0.6 percent, according to state data.

New York state reports a total of 124 COVID-19-related deaths in Genesee County and 83 deaths in Orleans County, representing no change.

n Wyoming County — Wyoming County reported three new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing its overall total to 2,763 community cases since the pandemic began, according to the Wyoming County Health Department.

As of Tuesday, the county had three active cases under mandatory isolation, and 20 people in mandatory quarantine.

The number of recoveries increased by eight to 2,708.

In Wyoming County, 17,403 residents, or 43.4 percent of county residents, have received at least one vaccine dose; 15,481 residents have completed the vaccine series, according to the COVID-19 vaccine tracker.

Wyoming County’s death total is being reported at 52 by county health officials, the same as the state Department of Health.

No new cases were reported at state correctional facilities in Wyoming County. The overall total remained at 533 cases since the pandemic arrived locally.

To date, there have been 83,929 total tests conducted for county residents, with 81,166 of them negative, for an infection rate of 3.29 percent among those tested.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positive cases was 0.2 percent.

n Livingston County — Three new cases were reported Tuesday for a total of at 4,705, according to the Livingston County Department of Health.

There were 16 active cases, representing no change from Monday. Of those cases, none were listed as hospitalized but two were reported in intensive care.

The number of recoveries increased by three to 4,643. A total of 30,687 residents, or 48.5 percent of county residents, have received at least one vaccine dose, while 27,142 residents have completed the vaccine series, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine tracker.

The county is reporting 46 COVID-19-related deaths. New York state reports 60 such deaths in Livingston County.

Livingston County has administered 141,847 tests for COVID-19 among county residents. The results include 137,162 negative results, according to the county’s COVID-19 tracking map. The infection rate among those tested is 3.32 percent.

The seven-day rolling average of positives is 0.8 percent, according to state data.
