COVID clinics continue this week

There are more than 250 active cases of COVID-19 in the four-county GLOW region as of this week, according to data from public health departments in Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming counties.

The total represents a decline of 52 cases compared to a week ago, when active cases were at 302.

The four counties – and all of New York state – remain classified as a “high” transmission area, based on data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Livingston County has the most active cases, with 98 reported as of Friday, down 19 from the previous Friday. The county health department updates its data weekly.

Wyoming County reported 65 active cases on Thursday, its most recent reported data. Genesee County had 46 cases, and Orleans County was at 44 cases.

The seven-day rolling average of positive tests ranged from a high of 9.8% in Orleans County to 5.1% in Livingston County. The average for the Finger Lakes, which includes each of the GLOW counties, was at 4.9%, according to data from the state Department of Health.

Here’s a county-by-county look at the data:

n Genesee County — From Monday to Thursday, Genesee County is reporting 46 new positive cases for a total of 5,825.

The individuals are under the age of 20 and in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. Fourteen of the 85 current active cases are hospitalized.

There are 40 new recoveries for a total of 5,143.

Genesee County reports a total of 126 deaths.

A total of 31,848 people, or 55.4% of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Friday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 29,435.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 5.6 percent.

n Orleans County — From Monday to Thursday, Orleans County is reporting 44 new cases for a total of 3,534 positive cases.

The individuals are under the age of 20 and in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s. Four of the 119 current active cases are hospitalized.

There are 21 new recoveries for a total of 3,018. Orleans County has 83 total deaths.

A total of 20,368 people, or 50.2% of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Friday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 18,776.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 9.8 percent.

n Wyoming County — Sixty-five active cases were reported, with a total of 3,013 cases since the pandemic began, according to county data.

The number of recoveries is 2,894. There are 54 deaths.

A total of 19,863 people, or 49.6% of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Friday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 18,408.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 5.7%.

n Livingston County — As of Friday, Livingston County had 98 active cases, according to the county’s COVID-19 dashboard.

A total of 5,287 cases had been reported since the pandemic began, along with 5,141 recoveries. There have been 63 deaths.

A total of 35,185 people, or 55.6 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Friday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 33,044.

A total of 63.6 percent of the county’s population of those at least 18 years old had been vaccinated.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 5.1 percent.
