Le Roy PD investigating stolen cars, other thefts

LE ROY - Stealing from unlocked cars is nothing new in the village, or in any other municipality, for that matter.

The latest thefts, however, were a bit different.

“We found a stolen car abandoned the village and got a report that a car was stolen from a resident’s driveway,” Chief Greg Kellogg said. “It appears they drove the stolen car here from another jurisdiction, abandoned it and took another.”

In between, numerous cars were entered in various parts of the village overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday morning.

Both stolen cars were recovered and village police are working with other jurisdictions in an effort to solve the crimes, Kellogg said.

Police are looking for help from residents who may have witnessed the crimes or who has surveillance video.

Anyone with information can contact Officer Stephen Cappotelli at scappotelli@leroypolice.org or 585-768-2527, ext. 2015.

As always, police urge residents to keep their doors locked and report anything suspicious.
