GENESE0 – Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Ryan Swanson has been promoted to road patrol captain during a recent ceremony with Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty.

Swanson had previously worked with his K9 partner, Gibbs, who passed away suddenly a few years ago after a tumor was discovered. In 2016, Swanson was promoted to sergeant.

Swanson is a 2002 graduate of the Mount Morris Central School District. He was captain of his police academy class and and separately serves as an instructor at general training sessions for regular deputies.

When is not working, family members said Swanson enjoys spending time with his 4 year-old daughter Haylee and doing work in the wooded area near his home.

Working in public service is something that runs in his family. His brother Benjamin is a sergeant at the Geneseo Police Department. Swanson’s father, Christian Swanson, said the family could not be more proud of both boys.

“As you can imagine his family is very proud of him,” said Christian.
