Dansville man accused of raping, abusing children

Donny S. Rowlinson

PORTAGE - Livingston County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Dansville man earlier this month on multiple felony charges stemming from his alleged rape of one child and sexual abuse of another in 2014.

On April 16, Investigator Josh Monster arrested 42-year-old Donny S. Rowlinson on charges of predatory sexual assault against a child, a class A-II felony, first-degree rape, a B felony, and sexual abuse in the first degree, a D felony.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Rowlinson had sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 13 and subjected another child who was also under the age of 13 to sexual contact in the summer of 2014. The victims reported Rowlinson to law enforcement in March 2021, the Sheriff’s Office said.

After his arrest, Rowlinson was turned over to deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. He was arraigned at the jail before Leicester Town Justice Henry Smith, who remanded Rowlinson to the custody of the Sheriff without bail due to his three prior felony convictions.

Records from the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision show Rowlinson was convicted of attempted robbery in the second degree in 2002, burglary in the third degree in 2007 and grand larceny in the fourth degree in 2011. He served under a year on the attempted burglary conviction, about three years on the burglary conviction and about two years for the grand larceny, records show.

The Sheriff’s Office said it was withholding some details of the case to protect Rowlinson’s alleged victims.

The Dansville Police Department assisted in the investigation.
