GENESEO - A new store is popping up on Main Street, but only for the month of April.
The aptly-named Pop-Up Store opened April 1 at 75 Main St. in the former home of Genesee Graphics, which has moved to Suite B at 75 Main. A door in the back of the Pop-Up Store connects to Genesee Graphics.
Corrin Strong, owner of Genesee Graphics, is the proprietor of the new fashion store. A large selection of mainly women’s and junior’s fashions was accumulated by the late John Spinelli, the previous occupant of Suite B.
Spinelli had been a fashion photographer in Toronto for many years before the coronavirus pandemic shut that business down. He was selling the clothing online out of the office before his death in February.
Strong purchased the inventory from Spinelli estate and is hoping to clear it out in one month.
“Everything is priced to sell,” Strong said. “John had a very good sense of fashion and accumulated a wide variety of merchandise.”
Included in the new store’s inventory is more than 300 pairs of jeans, 200 pairs of shorts, 200 high-heeled shoes, boots, tops, jackets, dresses, belts and hats, among many other items.
Strong has some experience in the fashion business having been the owner of The Little People’s House children’s clothing stores in Geneseo and Mount Morris in the 1980s.
“I never thought I would be back in the clothing business,” he said. “It’s funny what fate brings you.”
The Pop-Up Store will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will close for good April 30.
