Ringing in the new year from the delivery room, Gabrielle Quenell, 28, and her fiancé Joshua Woodard, 36, both of Lima, welcomed their son, Gavin Lewis Woodard, at 12:20 a.m. Jan. 1, 2021 at Noyes Health. Weighing in at 6 pounds 5.4 ounces and 20 inches long, Gavin was the first baby born at Noyes Health to arrive in 2021.

“I think it’s super cool,” said Gabrielle. “They also gave me some diapers and they said, normally, businesses in the area donate a gift.”

It’s tradition at Noyes Health to present the family of the first baby born each year with a gift basket filled with donations from local businesses.

Gabrielle, who works for Loomis, and, Joshua, who works for Fitch Construction building sunrooms, raise Gavin’s four siblings together - Liam, Owen, Amelia, and Kira. Gavin is their first child together.

Gabrielle’s due date was Dec. 30. Although Gavin arrived a few days past his expected arrival time, Gabrielle was fortunate to have a quick, safe, and healthy delivery as they welcomed their new baby boy.

“I was induced, so I’m not sure if that’s why labor was so fast, but the nurses thought I was lucky,” joked Gabrielle as she discussed her 3-hour labor experience.

Amanda Halpenny, CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife) was her delivery provider.

Noyes Health is happy to celebrate the birth of Gavin as we welcome the new year.

“Little Gavin and all the other babies born are a such a sign of hope in these difficult times,” says DaNae Gibson, RN, Director of Noyes Health’s Family Birthing Center, “We congratulate the Woodards, and look forward to helping more families welcome their babies this year and beyond. Go Bills!”

Gavin arrived home this past weekend and he’s thriving.

“He just got his check-up and he’s doing good. I feel great. I don’t even feel like I just gave birth,” said Gabrielle. “Gavin is so energetic. He looks like he’s boxing all the time because he’s always moving. He’s a happy baby.”
