AVON – Longtime photographer Larry Tetamore is now a business owner. Alongside his mother-in-law and wife he cut the ribbon Sept. 3 to oepn Tetamore Photographic, his new gallery at 50 Genesee St., Avon.

“After a bunch of years of doing photography I decided that I wanted to open a gallery to showcase and sell my fine art photography,” said Tetamore, who’s well-known for his landscape photographs that capture the region’s natural beauty. “I photograph a lot different things and I finally decided that I wanted to have a place to do this.”

Tetamore’s love for photography goes back many years. In his teens, he discovered photography and at the time was using his father’s Leica 35mm film camera.

His bold, expressive photographs are loved by many people in the area. From weddings to business shoots, he’s used his camera to help capture many special moments throughout the years, though his passion lies in his landscape shots.

“I go to many different places. I go to Lake Ontario to do photos and I love Letchworth State Park and just that type of thing,” said Tetamore, who’s also an occasional contributor to the Livingston County News. “...I like the beautiful nature of the area.”

Tetamore’s shop is the only one of its kind in Avon and many said it is something that will not only benefit Tetamore, but the village of Avon as well.

“For him to have a store front is just one additional way to help draw people here to Genesee Street and one more opportunity for someone to window shop,” said Laura Lane, president and CEO of the Livingston County Area Chamber of Commerce. “It is just one more thing to do here in Avon.”

“It gives people the opportunity to see a bit of Larry’s artwork if they did not necessarily have him out for a photoshoot, they can still capture and get some of the landscapes that he has captured,” she said.

Tetamore Photographic is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
