WCCHS bans most visits

BATAVIA — The Genesee County Health Department has issued a health alert after receiving seven positive COVID-19 tests from individuals who attended funeral service arrangements on the following dates and locations:

n Nov. 11 at Gilmartin Funeral Home on 333 W. Main Street in Batavia from to 7:30 p.m.

n Nov. 12 at Resurrection Roman Catholic Church on 303 East Main Street in Batavia) from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

n Nov. 12 at Saint Joseph’s Mausoleum on Ellicott Street in Batavia from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

n Nov. 12 at Polish Falcons of America on 123 South Swan St. in Batavia from noon to 6:00 p.m.

The name of the deceased person in the funeral was not released.

Contact tracing is in progress but unidentified individuals may have unknowingly been in contact with the positive cases.

The health department is advising all individuals who were at the locations listed to monitor their symptoms for 14 days.

If symptoms of COVID-19 develop, they should contact their primary care provider to seek testing immediately and self-isolate until they receive their test results.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include but are not limited to: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.
