BATAVIA — Growers with potatoes or tomatoes may want to keep a lookout after late blight was confirmed in Chautauqua County.
Late blight can occur anytime during the growing season, according to the Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Integrated Pest Management program.
When humidity exceeds 90 percent, white spores develop around leaf, stem and fruit lesions.
Lesions on the leaves have rounded edges, while stem legions are brown with a greasy appearance. Fruit lesions are brown and firm.
