BATAVIA — A Garden Talk program on “Raised Bed Basics” will take place Thursday.

Raised bed gardens are a great alternative to traditional in-the-ground gardens, Genesee County Master Gardener officials said in a news release. They are especially convenient for new gardeners or for small yards.

You can still have a productive vegetable garden in a raised bed and the best part is no rototilling is required, they said.

Participants will learn the advantages and disadvantages of gardening in raised beds. The program will also cover the basics of how to build a raised bed, site selection, how to make a soil mix, and creative planting ideas.

The interested are invited to the free Zoom meeting. Register in advance by visiting the CCE Genesee County website.

After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
