PBS series to feature area locations

Samantha Brown via Twitter PBS travel series host Samantha Brown filmed an episode featuring the Genesee Valley last May. The Abbey of the Genesee is among the highlights in the episode airing later this month on PBS stations nationwide.

The episode of “Samantha Brown’s Places to Love” featuring the Autism Nature Trail and other locations in the Genesee Valley will air several times this month on WXXI, the public broadcasting station in Rochester.

The episode, “Genesee River Valley, NY,” premieres at 11 p.m. Jan. 21 on WXXI-CREATE, digital channel 21.3 and Spectrum cable channel 1276, and repeat at noon on Jan. 22, 2 p.m. Jan. 23, 9 p.m. Jan. 25, and 2 p.m. Jan. 26. The episode will also air at 11 a.m. Jan. 23 on WXXI-TV, channel 21 in Rochester and Spectrum cable channel 11.

The episode was filmed last May. Filming locations include Letchworth State Park, where the Autism Nature Trail was under construction at the time of Brown’s visit, and the park’s waterfalls; The Abbey of the Genesee in Piffard, and Mount Morris where Brown visits with Boriken Restaurant owner/chef Melanie Alvarez Santiago and artist Shawn Dunwoody, who was hosting a community paint day for his historic mural. The episode also includes visit to Genesee Country Village & Museum in Mumford, and Linwood Gardens.

“Samantha Brown’s Places to Love” is beginning its fifth season on PBS stations nationwide.
